Why have your teeth cleaned?

Proper oral hygiene is important not only for your appearance, but also for your overall health. Improper oral hygiene may lead to infection and gum disease with jawbone and tooth loss (periodontal disease). Periodontal disease has recently been associated with cardiovascular disease and strokes.

Why is professional cleaning part of good oral hygiene?

Gum Disease
If gum disease is diagnosed early, it can be reversed or controlled through treatment. Gum disease is caused by infection in the gum tissue and bone, eventually leading to tooth loss. Regular dental cleanings - and check ups - help to prevent gum disease.

Your Teeth
Regular dental cleanings, along with checkups, brushing, and flossing, are important to help you keep your own teeth for as long as possible, and therefore maintain normal oral function and overall good health.

Let us add one that is easy to accomplish and may offer you significant health and wellness benefits.

Drink more water in 2012!

Your body contains about 60% water by weight and needs adequate water intake every day to function properly. The old saying that requires the drinking of 8 glasses of water daily may not be precise or supported by hard evidence but is a popular "rule". While much of our daily water intake comes from foods and fluids other than water, you can use this rule to simplify your water intake. Proper hydration aids in flushing toxins from the body, carries nutrients to the cells, provides for adequate saliva which is vital for oral health, may play a role in cancer prevention and much more.
