If the thought of drills and needles haunt you when you think of a dental visit, air abrasion may be just what the doctor ordered.

Air abrasion, also called micro-abrasion, uses a high powered air stream, blowing fine particles to remove decay in procedures where drilling used to be necessary. Air abrasion can be used instead of a drill when repairing small surface cavities and cracks or preparing teeth for bonding and other cosmetic procedures.

The non-invasive nature of air abrasion allows it to be used often without the need for drills or needles. There is also no vibration or pressure on the tooth to create the discomfort associated with traditional drilling. It can often be used on children's cavities as many times they are found in the early stages due to more regular dental visits.

When appropriate we will use air abrasion instead of traditional drilling in an effort to ensure your comfort while under our care.
